Hi, I’m Ashley – certified somatic practitioner. In somatic work, it is said that “the issues are in the tissues”, meaning the mind and body are fundamentally interconnected. Emotions like distress and anxiousness can become stored not just in the mind but in the nervous system and body. They can present as muscle tension, fight-flight-freeze reflexes, chronic pain and more.I guide clients to reconnect, release and reset. By establishing mind-body awareness and shifting the nervous system out of “stress mode” and into a state of deep relaxation and safety, the body can soften and release what it’s been holding. My practice blends traditional models of the central nervous system and polyvagal theory as a framework, along with foundational somatic tools and integrative modalities. I help clients cultivate the somatic awareness needed to tap into their innate bodily wisdom to address underlying issues. We explore and move patterns held in the mind and body – working at a pace that honors your capacity and promotes greater resilience and self-connection. With a steady, balanced internal foundation to anchor and ground, when life stressors arise, they’re more manageable to handle.I look forward to connecting and guiding you to create meaningful, sustainable shifts in overall well-being. It’s a supportive space to be seen, heard, and met with care for nervous system regulation and lasting inner change.

Somatics isn’t like traditional psychotherapy – although it is therapeutic. It can be used alongside talk therapy or as a standalone practice.Unlike talk therapy which focuses on analyzing thoughts or fixating on addressing a specific diagnosis, somatic work uses the body to calm the nervous system, notice patterns and release stored tension.Somatics works by:• Bypassing over-intellectualizing or unhealthy rumination: People who "talk in circles" during talk therapy may benefit from grounding in physical awareness.
• Breaking down the "talking wall": Chronic stress and stored emotions can shut down language centers in the brain. Somatics can help those who dissociate or freeze when asked to verbalize.
• Regulating the nervous system: Somatic techniques can immediately calm fight/flight/freeze responses to help create feelings of ease more directly than words alone.
• Releasing anxious or stagnant energy and stored emotions: The body remembers what the mind forgets (e.g., chronic pain, panic attacks). Somatic techniques discharge this trapped energy through movement, intentional breathwork, or other modalities.
• Providing an alternative outlet for those who dislike "just talking": Athletes, creatives, or kinesthetic learners often thrive when therapy includes movement, or somatic mindfulness.Somatics isn’t "better" universally over talk therapy. Some thrive with talk therapy’s clarity. But for those who feel "stuck" in talk therapy or physically numb/dysregulated, somatic work can unlock healing words alone can’t touch.
